City Lights

24 October 2009

While biking across the Williamsburg bridge, I got the idea to turn the New York skyline into beat detecter - basically to control the light in each building with a specific audio frequency. I took an image of New York City at night and removed all the lights in the windows in Photoshop. I then used shapes to mask the image without lights, allowing these shapes to be controlled by beats in the song. This makes each building simulate a specific sound, blinking to the beat.
