This visualization was created at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University. The assignment was to take a still image and visualize its pixel data via Processing, revealing more about than the original image shows. I used a still image of the hurricane katrina, took each pixel value and displaced it in 3D space according to its color value. I also gave the pixel a rotation in 3D space depending on the same color value.
The visualization shows how you can take data from a simple still image and use the pixel data to make the original motive come to live. You can use the mouse to rotate around the model and click/drag to zoom.
